Originally incorporated in 1956, the Town of Los Altos Hills is a premier Silicon Valley residential community located adjacent to the City of Los Altos, thirty-five miles south of San Francisco, five miles south of Stanford University and seventeen miles north of downtown San Jose. The advocates of incorporation were dedicated to the "preservation of the rural atmosphere of the foothills and orderly and unhurried growth", and lot sizes are typically 1 acre plus.  Moreover, residents are encouraged to avail themselves of the unique rural nature of Los Altos Hills by using the extensive pathways system, enjoying the views, visiting the several nature preserves while meeting their neighbors in the process.  Many current and past C level executives reside in Los Altos Hills, as it is extremely convenient to most all Silicon Valley businesses.
