 “After growing up in the Midwest and living in South Florida, we expected that our ability to afford what we deemed a reasonable living space, located in a great neighborhood in the Bay Area, was something only to aspire to, but never attain. Our experience with a previous agent in 1993 seemed to only further that perspective. However, from the very beginning, Marc proved to be very flexible with our needs and issues as they arose. He was able to pinpoint homes that fit our general preferences and proved to be very patient with our cautious nature as we continued to pass on homes that weren’t the perfect fit. As first-time buyers, we were nervous about our lack of knowledge of the real estate market, but Marc came to us highly recommended from our friends who had purchased their house the year before through Marc. Since our friends would never laud praise on anyone who is not first-rate, we did not consider another agent--we chose to work only with Marc. We have never regretted that decision. We met Marc with virtually no idea as to how to start. He walked us through the basics, introduced us to a mortgage broker (who we were also very pleased with), and worked with us to figure out what type of house and neighborhood we were interested in. We both work long hours, but Marc always made himself available to meet with us, often late in the evening. He was always patient with us, even as we modified our searches and redefined our criteria. If we had questions on a property he went to great lengths to answer them. For one house, he brought an architect there, free of charge, to discuss remodeling options. We always felt confident throughout the process that Marc would make sure that we had all the information necessary to make the right decision.

Once we saw our house, we began the offer process quickly. At first it looked as though we were too late; another party had already made an offer on the house. When the other parties offer fell through, Marc was one of the first to know, since he had been communicating with both parties continuously. After that, though several other people were also interested in buying the house, the sellers were most interested in dealing with use, due in a large part to Marc’s friendliness and professionalism. Even this did not go smoothly only due to the seller’s agent was difficult to get a hold of and often difficult to work with. Marc persevered. Before this time, I don’t think we truly appreciated how fortunate we had been to choose Marc as our agent; it was very obvious that the seller’s agent was not representing or advising her clients well. Once the sellers accepted the offer, they wanted to move very, very quickly on closing escrow. Marc arranged for all the inspections and coordinated all the paperwork. If we couldn’t be there for an inspection, no problem, Marc would take care of it. When we needed to get homeowner’s insurance, Marc drove the issue. If we were too tied up at work to get our paperwork to the title company, Marc would pick it up for us. The week we closed on our house was one of our busiest weeks at work, but Marc made sure that everything was in place. Even after the close of escrow, Marc made sure that all open issues had been closed. He patiently coordinated between the electrician and the pool company, both of whom believed that they had fixed the pool lights and the other company had screwed them up again. He made sure that we were satisfied with the quality of all repairs. He called back often to make sure that nothing new had cropped up after we moved in and that we were happy in our new home.

“In late October of 2002, my wife and I decided to sell our house as we prepared to relocate to Denver. A new job caused us to leave the house we thought would be ours for the next thirty years.

Marc Roos was one of several recommended agents that we interviewed. From our first meeting, we decided that Marc would be the best realtor to represent us in the sale of our house. His analysis showed better insight into the White Oaks neighborhood than we saw from some local realtors’ pitches. For example, Marc quickly understood the value of our 4-bedroom house on a quiet street in a family neighborhood where 3-bedroom homes are the norm.

Demeanor - Marc kept his cool even in the face of the direst circumstances. More things broke in our house in the days leading up to the open house than in the entire time we owned that house. A roof we never had problems with sprung a leak. Plumbing backed up, yard sprinklers broke and pests crawled into the attic. 1brough it all, Marc’s demeanor helped us all keep our cool and resolve all issues in time for the open house. Critically important for our buyers, and us, Marc never compromised his integrity, disclosing all information along the way.

Personal Touch - Selling our home was a difficult decision. Marc was supportive and understanding during this time. He showed great respect for our privacy and personal time. Most importantly, as a new father himself, Marc was especially careful to minimize disruptions to our 18 month old son’s schedule.

We could go on much longer. Suffice it to say that our house sold in eight days in the midst of the worst economic environment in recent history.
